I am honored to serve as Thomas County’s School Superintendent. I view my role as being the chief advocate for Thomas County’s children.

Thomas County Schools inspire learning by providing the greatest public education possible to each and every student.  Our comprehensive educational program provides opportunities for students to gain the academic, creative problem solving, and social emotional skills to be successful in college and career so that they can thrive in their future. We have created a culture that values learning, positive relationships, respect for others, excellence, and equity.

Our team of educators has developed a comprehensive literacy program that strives to prepare students from birth for a successful PK-12th grade career in Thomas County Schools.  We have the area’s most comprehensive STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) program that begins introducing students to computer coding in kindergarten and that involves both computer programming and robotics beginning in elementary school.  An accelerated math track option that may begin as early as fourth grade opens the door for students to complete up to two years of college calculus by high school graduation.

Recognized by the State of Georgia for our International Studies Program, Thomas County Schools offers South Georgia’s most comprehensive foreign language curriculum with course pathways available in Spanish, French, German, and Latin.  Many additional language options are available through online instruction. Several opportunities are available for study abroad as part of the high school experience at Thomas County Central High School. Beginning in fifth grade, all students have access to Spanish language instruction.  Opportunities are available for middle school students to earn high school foreign language credit in middle school.

Thomas County students have scored above state, national, and global averages on College Board Advanced Placement exams each of the last several years.  The State Department of Education has named Thomas County Central High School an Advanced Placement Honor School. In addition to comprehensive Advanced Placement offerings, Thomas County Schools partner with Thomas University and Southern Regional Technical College to offer a robust dual enrollment program through which students earn college credits while in high school. Courses are available on the high school campus and at the local university and college.

The Lee Bailey PREP Academy, located on the campus of Thomas County Central High School, offers ten programs including agriculture, audio video technology, automotive technology, business education, Coordinated Career and Academic Education (CCAE), early childhood education, health science, information technology, welding, and work-based learning.

Thomas County Schools provide an array of student support services to meet students’ health care, emotional, and nutritional needs and a full continuum of special education services.

While education is our core mission, we strive to do whatever it takes to help each student reach his or her highest potential. If you would like to learn more about our school system, please contact me at 229-225-4380 ext. 105 or lwilliams@tcjackets.net to schedule a visit to any of our fine schools.

Sincerely,
