Substitutes
Substitutes in any department are a vital part of effectively serving students at Thomas County Schools. If you are interested in substituting with our system, please visit our Board of Education Administration Office to obtain the required packet of information and forms. We do not accept online applications for substitutes. All potential substitutes will be required to complete a fingerprint background check.

As a working substitute for Thomas County Schools, you should expect periods of no work being available – school holidays, summer break, etc. – and therefore, scheduled periods of no wages being earned. Substitute positions are not eligible for unemployment benefits.
ACCESSING CHECK STUBS
Substitutes are paid monthly, on the last working day of the month. You can access your check stubs and W2 information via Employee Self Service (ESS). You will need your Employee Number to create an account. On the ESS website, you can also change your address, phone number, direct deposit information and tax withholding. For any issues with ESS, please contact the Finance Department.
