Southwest Georgia Virtual Academy (SGVA) is a free, full-time online public school serving students in grades K–12. Rooted in Thomas County and open to families in Southwest Georgia, SGVA offers a flexible learning option for students who thrive outside a traditional classroom, need a schedule that fits their individual needs, or want to get a head start on a career path. Students learn at their own pace with the support of state-certified teachers who know them by name, using a trusted curriculum backed by more than 25 years of experience.

Georgia Virtual School
Part-Time & Single-Course Option

Georgia Virtual School is a separate option from SGVA, designed for students who want to take one or a few online courses while remaining enrolled in their regular Thomas County school. It's a state-run program through the Georgia Department of Education, offering middle and high school courses (grades 9–12) that students take alongside their normal school day.

ENROLL IN GAVS

Georgia Virtual School may be a good fit if your child:

• Is enrolled full-time at a Thomas County school but needs one or two courses online
• Wants to take a class not offered at their home school, like an AP or elective course
• Needs to retake a course or recover credit without leaving their current school
• Wants to try online learning without switching schools full-time

Note: Unlike SGVA, Georgia Virtual School is not a full-time enrollment option. Students stay enrolled at their home school and add GAVS courses on top of their regular schedule.
